BITS - THE NEWBERGUNDIAN BISTRO

The Newbergundian’s Sean and Noelle McKee with their toddler, Eleanora Louise.

Sean and Noelle McKee opened The Newbergundian Bistro in the summer of 2018. A quick look at the name indicates the actual location — Newberg — and the area’s unofficial “sister” appellation — Burgundy. The play-on-words moniker also suggests the couple’s commitment to the wine country community, which they treasure.

Trained in France, Sean’s been a chef for 18 years. Noelle is also no stranger to the restaurant business, with more than two decades on her résumé. The culinary couple refers to the menu as French-inspired American. From hamburgers, several sandwiches and salads, to fish and chips, coq au vin, potato croquettes, steamed mussels and more, the ingredients used are top-quality and thoughtfully sourced. Rotating specials keep the menu fresh, and the approachable prices make it a great place for families.

The beverage selection, of course, includes area wine and local beer, as well as kombucha on tap. A deli counter makes for easy carryout with a stocked beverage cooler for drinks on the go. For those dining in, the bistro atmosphere is welcoming with an open kitchen so guests can witness Sean hard at work preparing plates.

Located at 203 Villa Road, Newberg, The Newbergundian is open for lunch on Monday, Wednesday, Thursday and Sunday; dinner is served Friday and Saturday only. For more information, including hours, call 971-832-8687 or visit newbergundian.com.
